TV

One of the last remaining investigative news programs, FRONTLINE, is running a two part segment on Mormon history and the exodus to Utah. Shows air Apr. 30, 2007 at 9pm and May. 1, 2007 at 9pm.

Also noteworthy is the HBO fictional series, BIG LOVE, about a prominant Utah businessman who is trying to hide the fact that he is a polygamist from the LDS majority and balance three families. I guess seeing the Utah culture is more exotic to me now that I am not in Utah, but it was interesting to see some familiar scenarios play out between the goodies and the jacks. (You Mormons who think the culture is not that different from main stream need to live outside of Utah for a period of time and associate more with nons. -- There's nothing wrong with being different. Embrace it.)

Also, keep in mind that these TV recommendations are coming from someone who does not get her TV from the box. (I don't even think it is hooked up.) Frontline episodes are often available streaming online and Big Love Season One is available on DVD, commercial free.
